Are you too tall for standard golf clubs?

Standard golf clubs are usually designed for golfers between the 1.70 and 1.84 meters tall . That covers a large portion of golfers — but if you're above that limit, chances are you're plays clubs that are actually too short for your body.

What happens if you play with clubs that are too short?

• You have to you too much bending , which is bad for your back and balance

• Your swing is less natural and less powerful

• You hit the ball more often not clean , with less control and distance

Guideline: How much should your shaft be extended?

Use this table as a guide. The exact adjustment also depends on your arm length and posture, but this provides a good starting point:

Golfer height. Shaft length adjustment

< 1.65 m - -1 inch

1.65 – 1.74 m -0.5 inches

1.75 – 1.84 m Standard length

1.85 – 1.92 m +0.5 inch

1.93 – 2.00 m +1 inch>

2.00 m +1.5 inch or more
